As I recently wrote about BKWeddings being banned by google, it dawned on me that the site needs to be revamped in order to truly be a good site. I'm going to make the site so good that a reinclusion request cannot be denied.
I'm going to list all of the things I need to do here so that there can be absolutely no question that the site is on the up and up, that it is a high quality site, and that it is not only worthy of re-inclusion, it is one of the better sites on the web for brides to visit and obtain information.
Step 1) reshape the site to be less bloggish.
Step 2) Implement a new directory structure so that
a) it is not primarily dmoz results as it is now.
b) the pages have new and original content in them and not just basic site information.
c) All sites are to be manually reviewed for quality and those that do not meet minimum quality standards are removed.
Step 3) Implement a google sitemap.
Step 4) Publish a privacy policy and contact information and a feedback form.
Step 5) Have a fresh set of content prepared so that new, original, quality content is published daily for the indefinite future.
Step 6) Establish the forum I've been sitting on for the last year, promote it and nurture it.
Step 7) Remove the Co-op ads.
Step 8) Remove all coop ads pointing to the site.
Step 9) Implement at least 5 downloadable and free objects to encourage repeat visitors and the unique usefulness of the site.
Step 10) Get a Yahoo Directory Listing.
Step 11) Remove all the generated pages that were recreated due to changes in MT's configuration settings and put redirects in place.
Step 12) Implement a decent search engine.
Step 13) Review and categorize existing article sets so that there is a good user interface for drilling down to get information.
Step 14) Get rid of the sidebar inbound links and descriptions to minimize duplicate content scenarios.
Step 15) Review all my H tags and reset them to a minimal amount.
Step 16) Remove highly competitive keyword sections that I haven't built enough content on. Reorganize existing content into categories on other pages.
Step 17) Press Release and organic link development.
Step 18) Re-establish the overspammed and shut down blog.bkweddings.com
Step 19) Review all existing comments for spam info.
Step 20) Re-enable comments and inspire community interaction
Step 21) Remove all extra links to bkweddings from my existing sites (i.e. leave the ones up here that refer to it, but any rss feed links or anything like that must go)
Step 22) implement my related links structure to manage related links better.
Step 23) Reduce RSS Feeds to a more managable number, stop the pings.
Step 24) Submit re-inclusion request, email Matt Cutts, and try to speak with him at the SES conference.
This is a lot of work, but I think I can get it done by Early August with a concerted effort. It may reduce rankings on other SEs, but all of the work should help to gain repeat visitors from the existing user base. I could really be shooting myself in the foot and end up losing my existing daily visitor count and gaining nothing in return, but I could also be increasing my daily visitor count ten fold by picking up a significant amount more repeat visitors and visitors from Big G in general.
I really don't think all this is necessary but at the same time, I'd hate to be wrong about a particular item on the list and keep on getting penalized. The key to BKWeddings success is quality, not a particular site strategy. If the quality remains high, the visitors will keep coming in and they will keep coming back. If the only thing keeping it alive was a search engine ranking then there is something wrong with all the effort I have already put into the site.
