Start a Business
Can't find a job? Can't find one that pays enough? You aren't the only one. Why not start your own business? Build a web site. Start a clerical service. Be a consultant. Do whatever it is that you do, but do it for yourself.A failing economy, a recession, a depression. Those are all synonyms for OPPORTUNITY. When the big company is having problems - the one with too much overhead, the one that moves towards opportunity too slowly, the one that can't change it's ways as quick as the economy can - then it's time for the little guy to step in and work his magic like nobody's business. Small businesses can do what it takes to make customers happy - much more so than the big guys, and usually they are a lot happier to do it than the big guys. There are advantages to being small. Use them.
If you're existing business is hurting, don't look to shrink - look to expand. Sales guy isn't cutting it? Give him the axe and put a room full of inexperienced cold callers a shot. Put away the knife and pull out the shotgun. Or vice versa. Whatever it takes.
Make money. Do something special. Make a job. This is what Americans do. It's what we've always done. There's no excuse to sit around waiting for the economy to happen to you when you can happen to the economy.
