Interesting Yahoo Links

While I recently cleaned up my office, I ran accross a set of cards I got at the SES Conference in San Jose in 2005 from Yahoo! The list of bookmarks is actually very interesting, so here goes:

Yahoo! Next Shows the newest products recently released or on their way to being released from Yahoo. Currently the page describes Yahoo Ready - a new mobile phone PIM/Mail/IM application, AlltheWeb livesearch - which is actually pretty cool - it shows results as you type. Definitely Fun to play with. Yahoo Feed/Blog alerts - get an IM, email or mobile device notice when a particular feed changes, and Open Short Cuts - which is a pretty cool idea that I'll explain in another entry, or you can just check it out yourself.

Next up on my stack-o-cards is Yahoo! Research Labs is a home page of sorts for a group of people at yahoo who's job it is to develop novel algorithms and attempting to create the next internet revolution. They are resonsible in part for Yahoo's Buzz Game.

Card Number 3 is one I already knew about - Yahoo! Developer Network - this is the home for all of Yahoo's API and developer information. If you have played around with Google's API's, I really suggest you check out Yahoo's - they are less popular, but more extensive IMO.

Then there's the Creative Commons Search mechanism. It points to content that is developed under a license such that you can share or build upon it without penalty. It's also a great tool to use when your results are a little too spammy and you need an alternate way to find some meat.

Of course there is Video Searching at yahoo too. I have never really been too interested in Video Searching. I'm sure it has it's place, but not right now, not for me. Head over and decide for yourself.

The next two cards are well known already - FLICKR and Image Search. These are followed by Subscription Search - which allows you to find articles from various online subscription services, Yahoo Mobile Search - for cell phones/PDAs, and My Web Search - not to be confused with My Yahoo, My Web archives pages so that you can see exact copies of what did exist at one point and time, and it places those pages ina searchable index.

And so concludes my Yahoo tour. There are many more interesting links there, but like I said this adventure began as I perused through a set of cards I picked up from a Yahoo rep last year.
