So my sister Marni happens to be cruising Yahoo Answers and she comes across a guy looking for history about my father's company.
He founded Kallestad Laboratories in 1967. After working for Travenol/Hyland labs, he realized he was doing a lot of work and not getting a lot of credit so he decided to go the road on his own. This was in Southern California. He moved back home to Minnesota where there was more of a support structure, with my mom sending him the bulk of her modeling money to help get things started.
In 1968, they went looking for investors. At one point they went public on the AMEX. In 1982, shortly after he died, Kallestad Laboratories had grown beyond anybody's expectations and was sold to a private company Sanofi. Kallestad products are still sold because they have a long standing history of quality. Bio-Rad now manufactures and sells some of the autoimmune products (there are more).
I ended up talking with some folks at bio-rad today about the good old days from before I was born.
Here come's number 2
Shortly after I get off the phone with Bio Rad I check my e-mail and lo and behold, somebody figured out how to get in touch with me looking to buy a copy of my dad's album Hidden In A Way. I offered up some mp3's, and I'll place a download link for everybody soon. And number 3
I check my e-mail again tonight and there's a message from the original Director of Immunology from Kallestad Labs.Well... What do ya know
All in all, this was a pretty exciting and interesting day for me. Not a lot of coding just yet, but I did have a lot of fun and the night is still young.Join The It Comes in Threes Discussion
