Thinking about various utilities that I want to develop it dawned on me that keyword tracking isn't something that is done properly. Why should I worry about tracking my progress with keywords that I don't rank on yet?
Wouldn't it be a better solution to parse your log files for keywords that are referring you traffic and report directly on those? You could also very easily produce reports such as - "How much traffic does this keyword provide?" "How much traffic does this keyword provide at various ranking levels?" and also produce a zeitgeist during the process?
It just seems to make sense to me that you would want to do things this way - especially when google limits your # of queries per day based on API key.
A simple idea that nobody has written yet. That is of course my thinking until I develop something and then find out that everyone in the world knew about a cool utility that I didn't and that it's been out for years, is patented, and I'm going to get sued.
Log file analysis just isn't cool since Google took over urchin and produced Google Analytics - which I have yet to succumb to as an analysis tool since I already am tied to Urchin 5.
