My Bid to Take Over the World.

I don't necessarily want full control of the world, or even to be the richest person in the world. My bid is really to gain enough influence that I can actually change the world for the better. Or at least in what my opinion is better.

Now - if my current bid for influence should fail, I could argue that I've already succeeded. I've had some very strong accomplishments in my life. But truly this quest should never end - no matter what degree of success I've had. I remember a t-shirt I had when I was a teenager. It read something like this: "You are either trying to make yourself better, or allowing yourself to become worse." Even in our twilight years, we all exert some manner of influence. With that influence, we should be doing our best to make this world a better one for the generations to follow.

So what is my current quest about?

Here's my story. I've been what I considered to be a highly paid computer programmer for roughly the last decade. My consideration of "highly paid" however has changed. Sure - I billed out a lot of money - but I also had a great deal of expenses. Between me and probably another 2000 other people in my same shoes, we kept the airline industry alive in post 9/11 U.S.A. And the hotel industry, and the restaurant industry, and I'm sure many others. It wasn't just travel - there are any number of other things that cropped up under business expenses that dwindled my actual take home dollars down to about $7.15 - which I proudly spent each and every year on a good cheeseburger, fries, and a milkshake.

The business expenses themselves weren't so much the problem - although they have caused plenty of stress. The real problem lies in the fact that for months at a time I would be away from home 5 days a week. With kids in the picture, it becomes an even tougher proposition - which leads to depression, marital stress, poor customer service, and any number of other issues. I started to enjoy my career a little bit less and miss my family a little bit more.

Over the past several years, I've developed a hobby of webmastering. I've learned a lot of things about Search Engine Optomization, Web Design, Graphics Design, programming in popular web scripting languages like PHP, Perl, Python, etc. I've learned about web site promotion and management. I've learned a lot of things that couldn't even be categorized. I've also had a ton of great ideas but little time to develop them.

My current bid for world take over, is to leave my current career behind and begin anew
