Shaq Attack

shaq.jpgIs Shaquille O'neal really going out on child pornography raids? Believe it or not, it's true. He never really was into basketball during the preseason anyways.

The only reason I came accross this tidbit is that Shaq actually raided the wrong house! Apparently, the house was identified based on IP address (like many RIAA and MPAA lawsuits) and the ISP handed over the wrong customer.

It took them 9 days to figure it out! The farmer, his schoolteacher wife, and their three children still have to live with the spectre of having their home invaded by police (and the NBA) on a child pornography crack down. In a small town like Gretna, Virginia this is the kind of thing that can linger indefinitely - regardless of whether or not the mistake was made public.

How many times does this need to happen before the courts realize that a person cannot be identified by IP Address? The RIAA has gone out and sued dead people. The MPAA has sued grandmothers incapable of using computers, let alone sharing movies on P2P networks. And now this. Sometimes I feel like I actually am living in the twilight zone.

Sorry. No links today. You'll have to google for "Shaq child pornography" to find out more. Please, nobody send me any of the results from that search!
