I'd like to have some image galleries in place eventually, and to produce software to manage those galleries. Many projects open source and closed source are up and online with cool presentation mechanisms but... sad sap that I am, I'd still like to build my own - one with my own personal tastes in mind.
So first on my task list is to understand what image sizes work out there - I know that I want to see full size images on an 800x600 screen, and I want to see thumbnails, but I really do need to figure out what sizes are reasonable.
I really should put together a database of acceptable sizes and aspect ratios so that I can bulk process image management tasks - whether they be article images, image gallery images, css images, etc. Also something that should be put in place is a directory structure surrounding images - something that can carry me through the next several years. Sticking a thousand images in one directory with no discernable naming convention is not a good thing.
