Thumbs up vBulleting Speed Test Winner

Steve,

I read your blog entry about optimizing vBulletin, good stuff. This forum is flying! I manage a network of vBulletin based forums. Any desire to do some freelance work?

If you don't mind, could you email me at ... so I can ask you about a few other things.

Regards,

Andy R

Andy,

Unfortunately I have other work on my plate that I feel is very important. I certainly would not mind sharing any ideas or knowledge I have with you regarding vBulletin, but honestly, I think I'll have a free product that will blow the doors off of vB within 3 months, maybe less.

E-mail sent.

Great, thank you. Would you like to do this via a thread here in your forum, a phone call, email, etc?

A free product, like a vBulletin product or are you creating another forums software?

The medium makes no difference to me.

I was referring to a free product competitive with vBulletin.

One of the very first and most important optimizations you can do is in regards to your static files.

1) Ideally, migrate your static files to a lighttpd server configured for static files.
2) Ensure that proper cache headers are being sent so that repeat visitors don't have to keep re-downloading them.
