Talking Discussion: Cache Strategies for High Performance Web Serving

Cache Strategies for High Performance Web Serving

A discussion of various edge caching strategies that can be implemented for increased experience levels spread out in large geographic regions. Certainly it is effective for use within the US, but sites with multi-continental end user bases would of course make much better use of the technology.

Lightbulb Re: Discussion: Cache Strategies for High Performance Web Serving

We've been running squid for a couple of years now. Our squid servers are limited to about 90 concurrent transactions and there are 3 load balanced servers. Granted our servers are very underpowered by today's standards (they were underpowered at the time when we bought them).

I honestly never thought about copying files instead proxy-caching them - nobody on our team ever brought that up. I bet we could increase the throughput on our proxy servers by 1000%!

I'm going to go into a meeting and get myself a promotion now. If I get shot instead, I blame you!
