Talking Discussion: Ico-Content

I've been less active at DigitalPoint than I'd like to be for some time now. As I was perusing the forums today, I discovered an interesting product called ICo-Content - it uses Yahoo! Answers to automatically generate threads and reply's for inactive or slow forums to help get them underway.

Hi Steve,

That's an excellent summary of what it is and isn't and how it probably should be used. If I may, I'll take a few lines from it and link it back to your write-up from the official page.

Couple of points:

1. Thank you for not having to baby-sit
2. Yahoo! Answers is massive and growing at a phenomenal rate. The duplicate content issue in terms of 'fighting with other ICo-Content' users at this stage seems minimal. From providing support I've seen this implemented on a fair few forums now and none were in direct competition. I've now seen it work very well indeed on forums ranging from Pets to Gaming, Celebrities to Sports and Politics to Tech/Gadgets. If the need arises we will look at other API based sources too.
3. The SMF version is set to launch today!
4. Like many others, you got the 0 and the O in my username wrong

I always appreciate a link .

I'd have to agree with you on the duplicate content issue. Personally, I think you should raise your price!

Funny after all this time I never noticed the 0 and O differences in your username. LOL.

I did purchase a copy of IcoContent, and I'll be running a trial of the software on this forum within the next few days. I've reviewed the code (it's written in PHP, and as of this version, it is unencoded) and it looks pretty solid and easy to modify for your own needs. There are comments throughout the code that help you see what's actually going on.

Thumbs up Re: Discussion: Ico-Content

I am delighted with the Ico-Content program. I purchased 3 licenses and chances are, I will need more.

If you have ever owned a forum, you'd know how difficult it is to get the ball rolling. No matter how long it's been sitting there live, unless there are a certain number of members and posts, new membership is hard to come by. It seems to be a psychological barrier, but unless there is something there, people will just not sign up to what they think is a lame forum (instead of signing up to get the ball rolling!). I can assure you... that's true.

This has changed With the invention of Ico-Content. No longer will new visitors, i.e. potential new forum members, click away from a stale/dead/lame forum!!! They see that there is indeed some action, and get pulled in by quiestions or topics that are current, live, and fresh.

What a brilliant idea! It's not only a great tool, period; it's also fun to watch your forum grow by the minute.

Thanks Ico-Content.

Thumbs up Re: Discussion: Ico-Content

For almost a year now we've been selling a remotely hosted competitor to ICO-Content's system. We've got over 100 paying customers and 300 free members. We're a fairly well known company with over 15,000 subscribers across our different web applications (Jetspinner, Jetsubmitter, Jetconvo, Sponlinks, etc).
We offer a trial system that will provide 20 posts free of charge. The paid edition can post 5000 per day and unlimited total posts.
If you got scammed by or had trouble with ICO-content since they came under new ownership, try out http://www.jetconvo.com instead. It works w/ PhpBB, PhpBB3, SMF, Invision, and vBulletin current editions.
Happy forum building!
